Learn about our Opportunity Programs at our virtual information session on Wednesday, June 4, from 5:00-6:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Presenters Sarah Robey\u00a0and Wendi Manderioli will answer your questions about\u00a0CCM’s Opportunity Programs, a pre-vocational training program for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n

What You Will Learn<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

These courses are prevocational training programs. <\/span>They cover fundamental skills, and are intended for students who have the physical and intellectual capacity, as well as the desire, to become a member of the workforce.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prospective students will be welcomed into this non-credit program under the auspices of the Center for Workforce Development Program. Please note that certification requires full participation in the course and lab experiences. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of this program is to teach basic skills that may transfer to employment with local establishments. In addition, students will be coached on resume and interview preparation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Class size is limited to 8 students per session. Priority will be given to students who have not yet completed an Opportunity Program course.<\/p>\n

Opportunity Programs are administered in partnership with the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education as part of the County College-Based Center for Adult Transition Grant.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n\r\n

Careers in\u00a0<\/span><\/b>the Field<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Culinary students acquire skills that prepare them for an entry-level position in food production, restaurants, kitchens in supermarkets, and\/or deli. They may also be prepared to work in kitchens found in hospitals and hotel settings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Horticultural students learn <\/span>basic horticultural skills that may transfer to employment with local growers\u2019 establishments.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Home Improvement Retail Specialist students<\/span> prepare for careers at home improvement organizations and local warehouses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Office Assistant students prepare to work in any company office setting.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n\r\n

Why Study at CCM?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

When students with intellectual or developmental disabilities age out of the public school system, there are limited options for programs that lead to further education and\/or employment. The Opportunity Programs at CCM offer a much-needed pathway for students to continue their education and train for employment at area establishments. Resume preparation and interview skills add important value to each student\u2019s experience.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n\r\n

Paying for Your Education<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

Scholarships may be available for qualifying students ages 18-24. Also, students may be eligible for funding from their service providers.\u00a0 Talk with your transition coordinator, DDD or DVRS counselor for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n
